About Us

Our Church

Calvary Baptist Church is a Bible-believing church committed to the authority of Scripture and the foundational truths of the Christian faith. We seek to honor God through worship, discipleship, prayer, and service.

Our church is led by the Holy Spirit and driven by a desire to remain faithful to God’s Word while lovingly serving people of all ages and backgrounds.

What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority in matters of faith and practice.

There's One True God

There is one true God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Church's Role

The church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, disciple believers, and share the Gospel.

Our Calling

Believers are called to live lives of obedience, love, and service through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is the Son of God

Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man.

Jesus Died For Us

Jesus lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again.

Salvation is by Grace

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

Our Pastor

Greg Williamson, Pastor

“Though a lot has changed over the past 100 years when Calvary Baptist held it’s first worship service in the “old mule barn”, the important things here have not changed. Calvary is still a loving and friendly church that is committed to Biblical teaching an service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We believe that the church should be led by the Holy Spirit and driven by our love for Jesus and our fellow Christians.

Our mission is to carry on the Great Commission of Matthew 28 verses 19-20:

'Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the nae of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.’

Finally, as a pastor I want you to know that Calvary is one of the best congregations I have ever been privileged to serve and we would love to have the opportunity to share Go’s love with you!”

In Jesus’ Name,

Greg Williamson

Our History

Calvary Baptist Church has a rich history that began in the early 1900s. What started as a mule barn used during the construction of the Aluminum Company of America later became Alcoa’s City Hall. It was there that a Sunday School was organized and Calvary Baptist Church was born.

On April 7, 1919, Calvary Baptist Church was officially organized. The church purchased its property on September 20, 1920, and by October of 1923, worship services were being held in a newly constructed building.

Today, services are held in an extension of that original structure, serving as a reminder that while buildings may change, our commitment to Christ and His mission remains the same.

Prayer Requests

Prayer is an essential part of the life of our church. We believe God hears and answers prayer, and it would be our privilege to pray for you.

Whether you are facing a personal challenge, seeking guidance, or praying for a loved one, you are welcome to share your prayer request with us. Our church family is committed to lifting one another up in prayer.

Submit a prayer request or contact us to let us know how we can pray for you.
